IDG World Expo Recognized with Four "Art of the Show" Awards by the International Association of Exhibitions and Events (IAEE)

Framingham, MA––IDG World Expo, a leading producer of tradeshows and events for professionals and consumers, is the recipient of four prestigious “Art of the Show” awards from the International Association of Exhibitions and Events (IAEE), the company announced today. Each year, the IAEE’s Art of the Show Competition recognizes excellence in promotional materials for the exhibitions and events industry. IDG World Expo received three first-place honors and one honorable mention for materials developed for Macworld® and Electronic Entertainment Expo® (E3 Expo®), two events in the company’s portfolio of conferences and events.

“We are extremely honored to consistently be recognized by the IAEE and our peers in the exhibitions and events industry,” said Mary Dolaher, chief executive officer of IDG World Expo. “The Art of the Show awards spotlight organizations that innovate in their use of marketing materials and technology, and we are proud to be among those recognized for cutting-edge work in these areas.”

The IAEE’s Art of the Show Competition includes 13 different categories of competition, spanning three show sizes. This year, 166 submissions were received; 32 were selected as first-place winners and 30 were awarded honorable mention recognition for their combination of several essential marketing elements needed to promote an exhibition. IDG World Expo was recognized in the following four categories:

  • First Place for Print Advertising (single piece) in the 50,000-150,000 nsf category for Macworld Conference & Expo. The goal of the Macworld print advertising campaign was to create broad awareness within the Mac industry and local consumer audiences, and ultimately drive registration for the event. This campaign focused on a photograph of the Macworld event badge with a tagline “Even the Small Talk Will Be Big”––a reference to the significant amount of networking, business transactions and news generated at the event.
  • First Place for Show Photography (single piece) in the 50,000-150,000 nsf category for Macworld Conference & Expo. The goal of the photograph for which IDG World Expo received that award was to capture the essence of Macworld, the premier event focused exclusively on the Apple products platform. Event photographs play an integral part in the promotion of both current and upcoming Macworlds, making it critical that all show photography conveys the unique spirit of the show’s audience and event.   • First Place for the Sponsorship Development Program in the over 150,000 nsf category for E3 Expo. The E3 Expo 2009 Event Marketing website promoted, in detail, the wide variety of pre-show and on-site promotional opportunities available to exhibitors.
  • Honorable Mention for Innovative Use of Technology for Macworld Conference & Expo. The goal of iMacworld, an iPhone application built specifically for Macworld, was to provide an efficient and easy way for attendees to navigate Macworld Conference & Expo via their mobile devices. iMacworld allowed attendees to search exhibitors, products and conference sessions directly from their iPhones and also provided access to event updates and special offers.

The winning entries and awards will be on display at Expo! Expo! IAEE's Annual Meeting & Exhibition to be held December 8-10, 2009, in Atlanta, Georgia.
