 John P. Brockland is a partner in the Technology Transactions practice group and a member of the Cooley Godward Kronish business department. He joined the Firm in 1999. He regularly negotiates agreements for strategic alliances, technology development agreements, software and semiconductor licensing transactions, and information technology and business process outsourcing arrangements. He also counsels clients on the intellectual property aspects of mergers, acquisitions, and financings and on issues related to open source licensing models.
Mr. Brockland has experience representing companies ranging from startups to multinational public companies in the software, hardware, semiconductor, and Internet industries. Mr. Brockland received a J.D. with honors from the University of Chicago Law School, where he served as an editor on The University of Chicago Law Review, and a bachelor's degree magna cum laude from Trinity University. He is a member of the State Bar of California and the Illinois State Bar Association.
